This paper analyzes the empirical relationship between monthly changes in stock prices and the real fluctuations in the economics of Puerto Rico and United States. Even though Puerto Rico has no stock market, the political and economic relationship between both countries seem to bind both in the regular manner, particularly in the free flows of capital, labor, information and the use of a common currency.
